A native of Baton Rouge, Steve has over 23 years of architectural experience. Upon graduation from LSU, Steve moved to New York City to be trained as an architect. After completing his IDP requirements, he decided to return to Baton Rouge to establish Ritter Maher Architects with partner and friend Scott Ritter.

An active member of the American Institute of Architects, Steve has served his profession in many ways. From time served on the national Board of Directors as well as President, PAC Chairman, and Legislative Affairs Director for the State of Louisiana, he has always dedicated time to the AIA. In 2020, Steve was recognized with one of the highest honors with the American Institute of Architects – admission to the College of Fellows. This award is given to only a small amount of professional architects each year, architects who have used their experience and knowledge to the best of their ability showing gratitude along the way.

Steve and his wife, Becky, have two sons – James and Matthew. Steve was one of the first LEED-accredited architects in Baton Rouge and has also passed his Evidence-Based Design Accreditation and Certification exam for Healthcare Design. Having worked on projects in Louisiana, Texas, South Carolina, Mississippi, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Arkansas, Steve is able to use his knowledge and apply it to all future projects. He is a former member of the Rotary Club and of the Catholic High School Alumni Association Board of Directors. Steve is also an Eagle Scout. He is knowledgeable of the latest strategies in resilient design and brings much of that expertise to all our projects.
